Wagmile for local businesses

Privacy for business listings

What we store. What you type into the form: business name, category, address, phone, website, hours, description, the details for dog owners, contact name and contact email; whether you ticked the updates box; when you signed up and when you confirmed your email; and, if you came from an invitation, which one. We also keep a record of the emails we send (address, subject and time).

What is shown. In the app and on wagmile.com: business name, category, address, phone, website, hours, description and the details for dog owners, and the place on the map. Never your contact name or contact email.

Places from public records. For a business that has not signed up, we may hold what a public business record or OpenStreetMap says about it: its name, category, address, phone, website and place on the map, and which record that came from. We show only those, with the name of the source. We do not put email addresses or the names of owners on these pages, and we leave out records that look like a private home.

Having a place removed. Use the “Something wrong? Tell us” link on the page. The page is taken down right away and a person reads the request. We keep the reason you chose and anything you wrote in the note, and nothing about who you are; the form does not ask for a name or an email address.

How we use your contact email. To confirm the address is yours, to send you the link that edits or removes your listing, and to write to you about your listing if we need to. We send occasional Wagmile updates only if you ticked that box, and every such email has a one-click unsubscribe.

If we invited you. We write to business email addresses that are publicly listed, and each invitation says where we found the address. Every invitation has a one-click opt-out. If you opt out, we keep only that address on a do-not-email list, so that we do not write to it again.

We do not sell your data. We do not sell, rent or trade your information, and we do not share it for advertising. It is handled on our behalf by the companies that run our hosting, database and email delivery, and only to provide this service.

Abuse protection. To limit automated abuse we count requests by IP address for a short time. The IP address is not stored with your listing.

Counting visits on wagmile.com. wagmile.com uses Google Analytics to count visits: which kind of page was opened (the home page, Help, a place in the directory …), the kind of device and browser, the rough country and city, and the site that sent you (just its address, like facebook.com). Before anything leaves your browser, codes and everything after “?” are taken out of the address, so Google never gets a post, a name or an email. Google works out the rough place from your IP address and doesn’t store the address. Google Signals and advertising features are off, and we never give Google an ID for you. Google Analytics sets its own cookies (_ga, _ga_<id>) to tell one visit from the next; the data is kept for at most 14 months. In the EU, the EEA, the UK, Switzerland and Quebec, nothing is sent until you tap Accept. You can change your choice at any time at the bottom of this page. This is the website only: the app has no analytics.

Delete at any time. Use the link in our email to remove your listing. It is deleted from our database right away and leaves the app as cached copies refresh, usually within an hour. Backup copies and the record of emails we sent expire on their own schedule. If you ask, we will remove those records of your address too.

Changes to this policy. We may update this policy at any time. The date at the top will change. If we ever start collecting something new, we will say so here before that version is released.

Contact. Write to hello@wagmile.com, or reply to any email from us. A person reads it.
